As language and hearing professionals, we are all actual aware that communication disorders can restrict a child's learning and/or social-emotional progress to maturity and an adult's employability, general productivity, succes and fruition in life. Unfortunately, we have not always been able to convince policy makers and the general public of the critical importance of communication skills and remediation of communication disorders. We also have not always convincingly argued the important character of speech and language increase in the acquisition of reading and other academic skills.
